Why Join Artistic Swimming?

    Artistic Swimming, or 'Synchro,' is an excellent activity for physical health and well-being. It's a full-body workout that strengthens the heart, lungs and muscles.

    Not only athletic, Artistic Swimming provides a platform for individuals to express themselves authentically and creates a space for creative exploration. The mindfulness required of the sport allows individuals to focus on the present, fostering mental clarity and facilitating creative thinking.

  • Personal Development

    Artistic Swimming allows athletes to understand the importance of goal setting and achievement, perseverance and determination, dedication and commitment. Through this amazing sport, athletes learn self-discipline, self-control and time management, along with interpersonal relationship skills.

HOW TO JOIN YORK SYNCHRO

Beginner Synchro Class

  • Saturday's at 9am, Location: York YWCA
  • Swimmers must be able to swim one lap of front crawl & one lap of back crawl unassisted
  • Learn the basics of synchronized swimming

Free Synchronized Swimming Clinic

  • Next Clinic: Saturday, March 14th 2026, 1:30-3:30pm
  • Open to all swimmers ages 6+
  • Participants must be able to swim alone in the deep end, as well as one lap of front crawl
  • Learn basic synchro skills
  • Learn a fun routine to perform
  • Meet and interact with current team members who help provide instruction throughout the clinic

Competitive Synchro Team

  • Season runs year-round
  • For swimmers ages 6+
  • 2-5 practices/ week depending on age & skill level
  • Learn routines to perform at competitions throughout the season
  • Perform in the annual York Synchro Watershow every October

WHAT OUR TEAM OFFERS

  • Free Clinics

    Held throughout the year and open to all swimmers ages 6+ who would love to try Artistic Swimming. You will learn basic skills and create a fun routine!
    Participants must be able to swim at least one lap of Front Crawl and feel comfortable off the wall in the deep end of the pool.
  • Pre-Competitive Class

    The pre-competitive program is made for new members and provides them with skill development prior to entering a competitive team. Our beginner class is held once a week for approximately 10 weeks.

  • Novice Team

    Typically for first-year swimmers who would like to participate on our season-long competitive team.  Swimmers must be comfortable in the water, but do not need well-developed swimming skills.

    Novice swimmers will participate in competitions and our annual watershow.

  • Intermediate Team

    The Intermediate Program is for swimmers of all ages and experience levels. Intermediate swimmers will participate in local, regional, and zone competitions and perform in our annual watershow.

    Athletes are expected to commit for the entire competitive season. The hours of training are commensurate with the level and/or commitment level of the program and are determined by the coaching staff, typically 5-6 hours per week.

     

  • Age Group Team

    A program for our most experienced swimmers. This program is divided between those swimmers in the 13-15 year-old age group and those 16-over (also known as Juniors).

    These swimmers continue to develop and improve their skills throughout the year while competing at local, regional, zone, and national levels. As well as perform in our annual watershow.

    Athletes are expected to commit for the entire competitive season. The hours of training are commensurate with the level and/or commitment level of the program and are determined by the coaching staff, typically 7-10 hours per week.

  • Masters Team

    Master's synchro is perfect for adults (19+) of all ages and abilities. Whether you're new to synchro or getting back into the sport you love, this program offers flexibility and fun.

    Our Master's program allows swimmers to continue to develop and improve their skills, compete on a national level, and a performance opportunity in our annual watershow.
